Capitol Hill Neighbor Assistance Fund

Capitol Hill residents have been shocked and appalled at the violent crime in our community, and in particular a violent attack on one of our neighbors in the Hill East area in mid-October.

Family, friends, co-workers, and people disgusted at this attack on our common humanity have come together to support the victim and help her and her family. We’re off to a great start, but much more remains to be done.

To help facilitate this effort, we’ve partnered with the Celebrate Capitol Hill Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization created by Hill businesses and merchants, to create a Neighbor Assistance Fund.

While working through this tragedy, we wish to celebrate what’s great about our neighborhood. Capitol Hill is a community where neighbors care about one another, and where people come together to support one another in times of crisis. We’ve done it before, we’re doing it right now, and we want to be able to facilitate that in the future.

This Neighbor Assistance Fund is designed to help us do exactly that. Contributions to the Neighbor Assistance Fund are used to provide emergency financial assistance for families and individuals experiencing severe hardship; to help neighbors get back on their feet after a severe blow. And just as important, to give all of us a mechanism to ensure our donations go directly to our neighbors that need it in a transparent and accountable fashion.

Be a good neighbor. Make your gift now.
